Vancomycin-A resistant Enterococcus (VRE) is the second-leading cause of drug-resistant nosocomial infections. This assay enables detection of the vanA gene at two different sites in the Enterococcus faecium vanA operon. This assay contains flanking primers and two iDDS probe/antiprobe pairs labeled for detection in separate channels (HEX and ROX).
The iDDS probes can detect the vanA gene in human DNA samples, while the excess matching quencher-labeled antiprobes prevent false-positive detection of the related vanB gene or vancomycin-sensitive Enterococcus or strains.
Dual iDDS probes enable simultaneous two-color detection for automatic confirmation of positive or negative results
